Incorporated on 9 July, 1981, Hariyana Ship Breakers Limited (HSBL) was promoted by Shri Shanti Sarup Agarwal. Hariyana Group, India's pioneering Ship Recycling Group is based in Alang, Asia's largest and world's major Ship Recycling Yard. Hariyana Group's business encompasses of Ship Recycling, Steel Manufacturing, Steel Trading and Real Estate Development.
The Company is now a diversified company with ship breaking, manufacture of sponge iron, trading, investment and money lending activities.
At present the Company has partnership in Hariyana Air Products with 95% share, Orchid Lakeview Developers with 33.33% share, Goyal Hariyana Realty with 50% share, Whitefield Projects with 40% share and Swastik Developers with 33.33% share.
Prior to diversification of the activities into trad ...ing and manufacture of sponge iron the thrust area of the company was ship breaking. With Hariyana Ship Breakers Ltd., the Group started its ship recycling activities with a small beginning in Mumbai, India achieving an annual turnover of more than 100,000 MT per annum. The Company was facing some problems in 1992 and 1993 due to non-availability of ships for breaking and non-availability of foreign exchange for importing old ships.
The Company underwent an amalgamation with Hariyana Fashions Private Limited and Hariyana Machinery Exports Private Limited. This scheme was sanctioned by the Bombay High Court effective on January 12, 2007. In this case, the Company acquired Hariyana Fashions Private Limited and Hariyana Machinery Exports Private Limited. As a result of the amalgamation, Hariyana Ship Breakers Ltd. issued 11,66,667 new equity shares to the shareholders of the two companies that were merged into it.
