History of Sharat Industries Ltd
Sharat Industries Limited, formerly known as Sharat Seafoods Private Limited was incorporated on 7 May 1990 and became public limited company in 1992 and changed to its current name, Sharat Industries Limited, on June 13, 1996. It was promoted by S. Prasad Reddy, Smt S. Devaku and Top Fortune International, Singapore. In initial years, the Company cultured and processed Black Tiger shrimp before eventually producing Scampi shrimp. At a time when the aquaculture industry was at an all time low, owing to the failure of black tiger and scampi culture, the Company gave a new lease of life to the industry by introducing Vannamei breeding and culture in the country. The Company became as India's oldest integrated aquaculture company. It pioneered Vannamei (white shrimp) breeding and culture in India which played a pivotal role in reviving the country's aquaculture industry and today, it has operations across the entire value chain of the shrimp industry through its four business divisions: Hatchery, Shrimp Farming, Shrimp Feed and Shrimp Processing. Engaged in acquaculture, the company's products are processed prawn, quality hatched seed and feed.
