History of UFM Industries Ltd
Incorporated as a private limited company in Jun.'86 to take over Union Flour Mills and carry out the business of wheat flour. Union Flour Mills was a partnership firm which started commercial production in 1965 with an installed capacity of 30,000 tpa. Subsequently, under an expansion programme, another unit was set up with an installed capacity of 42,000 tpa within the same complex at Meherpur, Assam. The company was converted into a public limited company in Mar.'88. It set up another 42,000 tpa roller flour mill with Buhler technology from Switzerland at Gauripur, Assam. This unit commenced commercial production in Mar.'90. Presently, the installed capacity is 1,14,000 tpa. The company proposes to modernise its mills at Silchar and Gauripur and also to launch poly pouches to market its products. It came out with a public issue in Jan.'96 to part-finance the aboe project and to meet the normal working capital requirements. It proposes to market its products under the Harvest brand name, which will be packaged in multi-layered poly pouches. ...
