Implications for Customers and Businesses

Digital banking, online transfers, ATMs and UPI services will continue to operate as usual. However, services that depend on branches, such as account management and cheque deposits, will be affected by state-specific closures.

Additionally, bank holidays may delay fund transfers, especially via NEFT/RTGS—which may affect timely margin additions and increase the risk of auto-square-off in F&O positions. Mutual fund purchases, SIP debits and NAV allotments may shift to the next business day, and IPO or NFO mandates or refunds can take longer to process during holiday periods. What should investors do?

Investors can plan ahead to prevent disruptions during the December holidays
Investors can by pre-fund their trading accounts, schedule mutual fund transactions ahead of holidays, and complete IPO applications early to prevent UPI delays. Monitoring broker notifications and using UPI for smaller transfers can help maintain liquidity even when bank branches are closed.
