Indian stock exchanges will observe three trading holidays in March 2026, resulting in shorter trading weeks in the final month of FY26.
As per the official exchange calendar, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on select festival days.
Equity Market Holidays – March 2026
Trading in the cash and equity derivatives (F&O) segments will remain closed on:
- March 3 (Tuesday) – Holi
- March 26 (Thursday) – Shri Ram Navami
- March 31 (Tuesday) – Shri Mahavir Jayanti
There will be no trading across equity and F&O segments on these dates. Since all three holidays fall mid-week, investors should keep settlement timelines in mind, especially as March marks the end of the financial year.
Currency Derivatives Segment
The currency derivatives segment will also remain closed on:
- March 19 (Thursday) – Gudi Padwa
Equity markets will remain open on this date, but currency trading will not be available.
Commodity Market Schedule
Commodity trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be partially affected on :
- March 3 – Holi
- March 26 – Shri Ram Navami
- March 31 – Shri Mahavir Jayanti
On these dates, the morning session (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) will remain closed.
Commodity markets operate in two sessions – a daytime session and an evening session linked to global markets such as gold and crude oil.
While the morning session will remain shut, the exchange may issue separate notifications regarding the evening session closer to the respective dates.
Bank Holidays in March 2026
Banks in Mumbai will also remain closed on key festival days, including:
- March 3 – Holi
- March 19 – Gudhi Padwa (Banks in Maharashtra will be closed)
- March 20 – Eid-Ul-Fitr (subject to moon sighting)
- March 26 – Shri Ram Navami
- March 31 – Mahavir Jayanti
Branch banking and cheque clearing services will not be available on these dates. However, digital banking services such as UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs will continue to operate normally.
