Promoted by Vikram Doshi, Atcom Technologies Ltd, earlier Atco Industries Limited manufactures electronic weighing machines/scales (EWS) which are substitutes for conventional mechanical weighing machines. ATL commands 50% of the market for electronic weighing machines. ATL manufactures nearly 78 types of electronic weighing machines capable of measuring weights ranging from a minuscule 0.01 mg to as high as a fully loaded truck.
ATL is the first electronic weighing machine company in Asia and the second in the world to be awarded the prestigious ISO 9001. Apart from EWS, Atco's three other principal businesses are measurement, health care and safety and security. The product range includes small electronic safety vaults called Secura and tyre pressure measurement devices.
ATL has tied up with Measurement Specialities, US, to manufacture thinner digital personal weighing scales. It has also tied up with Amano Corporation, Japan, to manufacture Electronic Time Attendance and Access Control systems.
The company diversified into manufacture of large volume of Polycarbonate Bottles, LDPE Caps, Polythylene Terephthalate(PET) bottles and HDPE caps and for this purpose it is put up separate factories at Daman. During the year 1996-97, ATL promoted Atco R&D as its 100% subsidiary. It has installed the polycarbonate bottles - 20 liters with 4,32,000 nos, Electronic time Recorder with 10,000 nos., Electronic Cash Registers with 5,000 nos., Water Cooler with 36,000 nos.and Mi ...neral Water Plant with 12 nos.
With further diversification into software development business, it has adopted an aggressive posture on strategic initiatives in the areas of IT solutions and eCommerce. The Company plans to offer, bandwidth on demand from 256 kbps to 6mbps. In the first phase, the company will provide connectivity in all metros and in phase two, to around 128 towns before finally extending its reach across the country.
The Company has announced an ambitious plan to network 2,00,000 retailers online and nation-wide directly with producers and manufacturers. The business-to-business (B2B) solution aims to eliminate intermediaries -wholesalers, distributors and stockists - and thereby cut cost of operations of both producers and retailers. The company plans to install point of sales systems which can connect retailers to their suppliers, customers and keep them abreast of upto date information on cash, stock and accounts.
