History of WPIL Ltd
WPIL Limited (formerly known as Worthington Pump India Limited) was incorporated in 1952. In view of disinvestment of their stake and termination of Technology License Agreement with Ingersoll-Dresser Pump Co., USA, Company name was changed to WPIL Limited from 17 September, 1996. The Company is engaged in the in the business of providing fluid handling solutions - from supply of pumps to turnkey project execution. It supplies a comprehensive range of pumps to the Industrial, municipal, irrigation and power sector. The Company also has a strong project division which undertakes water management contracts in the above sectors. Initially, it started construction contracts related to water supply and irrigation. It has two manufacturing facilities, situated at Panihati in Kolkata and Ghaziabad in U.P. The mother plant is situated at Panihati which caters to manufacturing needs of large Vertical Turbine Pumps. Ghaziabad plant manufactures Submersible Pumps and Castings in its Foundry. WPIL capitalized on India's rapid growth and large infrastructure projects by expanding into large engineered pumps, including those above 3 MW. They supplied vertical cooling water pumps for supercritical power plants, concrete volute pumps for seawater cooling, and ultra-large pumps for river-linking projects.
