The Hero Motors initial public offering (IPO) will close for subscription on Friday, 18 September, the final day of a three-day bidding window that opened on 16 September. 

What Is the Price Band and Lot Size for the Hero Motors IPO? 

The Hero Motors IPO price band is fixed at ₹79 to ₹84 per share. The lot size for an application is 178 shares. 

At the upper end of the price band, a retail investor applying for the minimum one lot needs ₹14,952. 

What Is the Issue Structure of the Hero Motors IPO? 

The Hero Motors IPO is worth ₹1,000 crore in total, split between a fresh issue and an offer for sale (OFS). The fresh issue comprises 7,14,28,571 shares aggregating to ₹600 crore, and the OFS comprises 4,76,19,047 shares aggregating to ₹400 crore. 

A fresh issue raises new capital for the company, while an OFS involves existing shareholders selling their shares. ICICI Securities Ltd, DAM Capital Advisors Ltd and JM Financial Ltd are the lead managers to the issue, and KFin Technologies Ltd is the registrar. The shares will list on the BSE and NSE. 

What Does Hero Motors Do? 

Incorporated in April 1998, Hero Motors is an automotive technology company that designs, develops, manufactures and supplies engineered powertrain solutions to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across the United States, Europe, India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. Its solutions cover electric and non-electric powertrains, serving two-wheelers, performance automotive, e-bikes, off-road vehicles, electric and hybrid cars, heavy-duty vehicles and eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) applications. 

The company operates through two segments, Powertrain Solutions and Alloys and Metallics, the latter supplying sheet metal and tubular assemblies and components to automotive OEMs. 

How Will Hero Motors Use the Fresh Issue Proceeds? 

Of the fresh issue proceeds, Hero Motors plans to use ₹190 crore towards repayment, prepayment or redemption of outstanding borrowings. Another ₹200 crore is earmarked for capital expenditure, including equipment for capacity expansion at the company’s Gautam Buddha Nagar facility in Uttar Pradesh. 

The remaining proceeds are intended for inorganic growth through unidentified acquisitions and general corporate purposes.
