TCI Industries Limited (TCIIL) was initially incorporated as Transport Corporation of India Limited in 1965. Subsequently, the Company changed its name to TCI Industries Limited from Transport Corporation of India Limited vide fresh Certificate of Incorporation issued on 29th January, 1999 by the Registrar of Companies, Andhra Pradesh.
Initially, Company was rooted in the freight transportation and logistics industry before diversifying into real estate and textile trading. The company diversified into car rental service in 1989, to set up a separate division- Wheels Rent-A-Car in collaboration with Hertz Internatioal, US. In 1991-92, the company formed Trans Corp International Bureau D' Exchange, for conducting the business of money changer. In 1993, the company took on lease, the plant of Bhoruka Aluminium for a period of three years, under the BIFR rehabilitation scheme. In May '94, the company came out with a Rs 12.71-cr public-cum-rights issue of 10.59 lac 15% redeemable PCDs of Rs 120 each, to part-finance the capital cost of acquiring ship, vehicles and other assets and also to meet long-term working capital requirements, etc, at a project cost of Rs 37.69 cr.
In 1998 the Company underwent Demerger, pursuant to the Scheme of Arrangement approved by the Hon'ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad. The Transport Division was transferred to the Company and in terms of the Scheme, for every 100 shares held in the original TCIL, shareholders received 67 shares ... of the Company during the year.
The Company diversified the business operations into providing space for film shooting, TV serials, advertisements, and events during 1999.
Company has completed the repairs and reconstruction of the sea-retaining wall on the south-east side, filled with up with surface finished in concrete of the entire 22000 sq. ft. in 2026.
